Description
Position: Cook
Terms of employment: Full-time, Permanent
Wage: $14.00-20.00 /hour (depending on experience)
Working hours: 30-40 hours/week
Benefits:
- 10 days paid vacation per year or 4% vacation pay
Job Duties:
- Prepares an extensive variety of cold and hot foods
- Plan new menu items, regulate size of food portions, estimate food requirements and costs, and purchase supplies
- Order kitchen supplies and equipment
- Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies and equipment.
- Inspect kitchens and food service areas
- Always keep kitchen and food preparation area clean and sanitized
- Supervise kitchen helpers and other staffs
- Train other kitchen helpers in preparation, cooking and handling food items
Job requirements:
- Completion of a three-year apprenticeship program for cooks
OR
Completion of college or other program in cooking
OR
Minimum 3 years of commercial cooking experience are required.
Educational Requirements:
- Secondary school
