Description
Mercury Transport Inc in Vancouver is looking for a Permanent, Full-time position for One Captain – water transport to assist in running our growing firm and could join immediately.
Location: 6707 Nelson Ave suite 101 West Vancouver, BC V7W 0A4
Positions Available: 1 (One)
Anticipated Start date: As soon as possible.
Compensation: $40.06 per hour
Work hours: 30 hours/week
Terms: Permanent Full-Time
Language of Work: English
Job duties and Responsibilities:
- Command and operate ships or vessels to transport passengers and cargo.
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of deck crews.
- Ensure the safety and comfort of passengers onboard.
- Determine geographical positions using navigational instruments, maps, and charts.
- Control, steer, and navigate vessels in various waterways, including coastal and inland routes.
- Maintain navigational instruments and equipment to ensure operational readiness.
- Direct and oversee the loading, securing, and unloading of cargo.
- Record the vessel's progress, weather, and sea conditions in the ship's log.
- Enforce regulations in Canadian waters to ensure compliance with maritime laws.
- Command and operate coast guard vessels as required.
- Board vessels at berth or from pilot boats to advise captains on safe navigation into and out of ports, seaways, or other waterways under pilotage authority.
- Perform regular inspections to ensure adherence to safety protocols and environmental standards.
Skill Requirements:
Completion of Secondary School is required.
1 year to less than 2 years
