Wage: $15.20/hour
Vacation: 4% of gross salary or 15 paid vacation days
Nature of employment: Permanent, full-time
Hours per week: 30
Description: The caregiver will supervise and care for our school aged daughter in our residence. The successful candidate will oversee our children’s daily routines, including bathing, meals, rest periods, and attending appointments, as instructed by employer. Other responsibilities will include tending to the emotional well-being of the children, disciplining children according to the methods requested by parents, instructing the children in personal hygiene and social development, keeping records of daily activities and health information, assisting with homework, organizing and participating in educational and play activities such as games, sports, crafts, reading, and outings as well as fostering an overall healthy environment in our home. Candidate will also be required to maintain a safe and hygienic home environment for the children, so light housekeeping duties and shopping for food and cleaning supplies incidental to childcare will also be required.
Position Requirements: Completion of secondary school and prior experience caring for a school aged child. First Aid training is required. Ability to swim is an asset. Driver's license is an asset, given the lack of public transportation. Must be able to communicate in English. The ideal candidate will be willing to work a flexible schedule to accommodate the parents’ jobs, will need to variously work weekdays and weekends, and will need to be prepared to accommodate parents’ work schedule on short notice. Strong references will be required.
