The National Arts Centre (NAC) is Canada’s bilingual, multi-disciplinary home for the performing arts. The NAC presents, creates, produces, and co-produces performing arts programming in various streams—the NAC Orchestra, Dance, English Theatre, French Theatre, Indigenous Theatre, and Popular Music and Variety—and nurtures the next generation of audiences and artists from across Canada. The NAC’s vision is to lead and support the renewal of the Canadian performing arts sector over the next three years, with The Next Act, its 2020-2023 strategic plan. Through collaboration and investment in creation, production, co-production, and dissemination, along with a heightened focus on community engagement, learning, and innovation, the NAC will shape a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive future for the performing arts in Canada.

NAC Foundation:

The National Arts Centre Foundation raises funds to support the National Arts Centre’s work in performance, creation and learning across Canada. Since its founding in 2000, the NAC Foundation has raised over $150 million to enrich the lives of Canadians through the performing arts and champion our country’s artists, students and educators.

Hours:                                     17.5 hours per week, flexible between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. (occasional evening and weekend work)

Salary:                                     $24 – $32 / hour

Key activities:

Reporting to the Senior Development Officer, Annual Fund, the Development Coordinator will play a key role on the five-person Annual Fund team that cultivates, solicits and stewards more than 4,500 annual and monthly individual and corporate supporters. The Development Coordinator is the primary concierge for the Foundation’s Donors’ Circle and Corporate Circle donor stewardship programs. Fluently bilingual and an exceptional relationship builder, the successful candidate will provide mid-level donors with one-stop ticketing services, parking reservations and 1 Elgin dining reservations, and general assistance to all donors via phone, email, and in person within public health guidelines. The successful candidate will also provide operational support to the Annual Fund’s fundraising program. The Annual Fund and the NAC Foundation is a dynamic team, and roles and responsibilities may change and develop over time.

Skill Requirements:

  • Fluently bilingual in both official languages, with strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Experience in donor/customer/client services (an asset being in a performing arts setting);
  • Experience in planning, creating and/or sharing social media content on platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn;
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage a variety of projects and activities simultaneously;
  • Attention to detail, precision and adaptability;
  • Ability to work in cross-departmental teams;
  • Ability to thrive under pressure and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment;
  • A familiarity of Raisers’ Edge NXT, Engaging Networks, Mailchimp and TicketMaster/Archtics would be considered a strong asset;
  • A passion for the performing arts in Canada.
