We are looking for well-experienced ethnic food cooks to work at Sula Indian Restaurant Commercial Drive, 1128 Commercial Drive, Vancouver, BC, V5L 3X2, Canada. However, you may be required to work at various locations in the region.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare and cook various Indian dishes, including curries, biryanis, tandoori items, and other traditional recipes, maintaining authentic flavours and presentation.

  • Mix and prepare spice blends, marinades, and other ingredients specific to Indian cuisine, ensuring balanced and vibrant flavours.

  • Operate specialized Indian kitchen equipment, such as tandoors, tawas, and kadais, and ensure they are adequately maintained.

  • Follow recipe specifications closely to maintain consistency in flavour, texture, portioning, and presentation.

  • Assist with daily tasks such as chopping vegetables, grinding spices, marinating meats, and preparing base sauces for efficient kitchen operation.

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen workspace, adhering to sanitation and hygiene standards.

  • Monitor the freshness and quality of ingredients, ensuring that all Indian spices, herbs, and specialty items are in good condition and used correctly.

  • Assist in managing inventory of essential ingredients, notifying supervisors of low stock to ensure timely restocking of Indian spices, herbs, and other key items.

  • Practice safe food handling and storage techniques, particularly with raw meats, seafood, and spices, to avoid cross-contamination.

  • Coordinate with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth workflow, particularly during high-demand times.

  • Stay updated on cooking techniques and trends in Indian cuisine to bring fresh ideas and flavours to the menu.

 

Prerequisites:

 

Education: Secondary school or equivalent. 

Experience & Skills: 2 years to less than 3 years of experience 

Language: English

 

Annual Salary; $53,300 to $56,000 for 30 to 40 Hours per week

Starting Date: As soon as possible

Terms of Employment: Fulltime and permanent
