F/T Cook (Thai Food) (1179 Commercial Drive, Vancouver)
Thai Basil Company Ltd. (Thai Basil Restaurant) is seeking a fulltime Cook (Thai Food) at its Vancouver Commercial Drive location.
Job Description/Duties:
- Prepare and cook complete authentic Thai food
- Supervise kitchen helpers in preparation and handling of food
- Ensure quality of food and determine size of food portions
- Inspect kitchen and food service areas
- Monitor food stocks and kitchen supplies
- Participate in planning menus and daily special in a team
- May train new kitchen staffs
Education:
- Completion of secondary school
- Completion of college or other program in cooking, including Thai cuisine cooking
- Completion of college or other program specialised in Thai cuisine cooking would be an asset
Skills and Experience:
- 2 years of cooking experience in the commercial kitchen is required
- Some commercial cooking experience as Thai Food Cook at a Thai restaurant is required.
Language:
- Communication skills in English
Compensation:
- $17/hour, 40hrs/week, 4% vacation pay
- Overtimes are paid at 1,5 rate for hours exceeding 40 hours in any given week
