Cape John Crabs & Seafood Ltd is a frozen cooked lobster, fresh lobster and other seafood wholesaler and importer located in Nova Scotia. It mainly imports its seafood to China and Taiwan.

 

What you will do on this role:

  • Plan, implement and modify a new financial system for an informatization solution centering on enterprise procurement and management of suppliers based on SAP and SRM applications
  • Identify and leverage technology opportunities to recommend and implement financial process improvement initiatives
  • Oversee accounts payable both domestics recipients and international recipients and manage in processing invoices and payments
  • Calculate month-end and quarter-end account reconciliations, including revenue and expense accruals, pre-paid expenses, and depreciation, and prepare journal entries for posting
  • Accountable for preparing monthly payroll and benefit summaries and distribution of expenses for posting to general ledger
  • Prepare requested schedules, reconciliation, complete foreign exchange translations, and provide supporting documents while working with the external auditors
  • Cooperate with sales team to guarantee the matching of seafood order and receipt, confirm the collection and payment
  • Responsible for Inventory management include but is not limited to support inventory count and purchasing valuation
  • Examine annual financial reports to prepare income tax returns from accounting records
  • Analyze financial statements and reports for providing financial advice related to cost control and budget planning
  • Complete corporate tax filings such as HST, payroll taxes, preparation of T4s, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Finance

 

 

What you should have to succeed on this role:     

  • Bachelor’s degree specialized in Accounting or Finance field
  • CPA designation or CMA designation preferred
  • 3 years of experience performing full cycle accounting including maintaining general ledger and preparation of financial reporting, accounting system management and operation
  • Experience with international trade would be an asset
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
  • Familiar with SAP solution framework and procedures measurement  
  • Working knowledge of Accounting Standards, both of Canadian and Chinese GAAP
  • Ability to work within a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision and work well under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
