Hiring a Bookkeeper
Job requirements
– Completion of secondary school is required.
– A college diploma/certificate in a related field, or completion of two years of a Chartered Account program, or related courses in accounting/bookkeeping combined with direct experience as a senior financial or accounting clerk, is/ are required..
– Proficiency in Accounting Software such as Sage 50, MS Word, and Excel are required.
– Previous bookkeeping experience in hospitality related business is a definite asset.
Main duties
– Maintain financial records and establish necessary accounts using manual and computerized bookkeeping systems for the hotel and restaurant such as Sage 50, etc.
– Calculate and prepare payments for payroll and for utilities, services and other expenses
– Prepare tax remittance forms, workers' compensation forms, pension contribution forms and other government documents
– Reconcile bank accounts, prepare trial balance of books, post journal entries, and maintain general ledgers.
– Provide assistance to General Manager in preparation of business/financial plans and proposals, financial statements, and other required documents
– Prepare various other statistical, financial and accounting reports as required.
Working Condition:
– 30 working hours per week (Full-time & Permanent position) for $25.00 per hour
– 4% vacation pay or 10 days of paid vacation per year and group insurance after one year of employment
