Specific Skills:
• Engage with the female senior in conversation to provide companionship, monitor her emotional well-being, and reduce social isolation.
• Assist her with all aspects of personal hygiene—including bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting—while respecting her dignity and privacy.
• Support her mobility by helping her walk, use mobility aids, and perform prescribed exercise routines to maintain strength and flexibility.
• Perform safe transfers of the client between wheelchair, chair, bed, toilet, and vehicle, using proper lifting techniques or assistive devices.
• Accompany her to medical appointments; remain with her during ambulance transport or hospital stays to advocate for her needs.
• Administer her prescribed medications and provide timely reminders, documenting each dose and maintaining receipts for any pharmacy purchases.
• Apply non-sterile dressings and bandages to her minor wounds under direction from a health care professional, monitoring for signs of infection.
• Assist her with bedpan, commode, or other toileting aids as needed to ensure comfort and hygiene.
• Plan, prepare, and serve a variety of fresh, nutritious meals tailored to her dietary requirements—such as low-sodium, low-sugar, or soft-texture diets—while following food safety guidelines.
• Aid her in communicating with family members, health care providers, and community services by making phone calls, writing notes, and setting reminders.
• Perform light housekeeping tasks focused on her living areas—including cleaning, tidying, laundry of her clothing and linens, and seasonal gardening—to maintain a safe, clutter-free environment.
• Shop for her groceries and household supplies, ensuring items meet her nutritional and personal care needs, and keep accurate records of all receipts.
• Never leave her unattended in her home without prior consent from the employer to ensure her safety at all times.
