Offered wage: | $23.26 per hour (includes $2.08/hour as a provincial wage enhancement grant); The gross salary paid is subject to applicable Federal and Provincial income taxes and other statutory deductions such as EI and CPP. |
Other Benefits: | None other than employer EI and CPP contributions |
Vacation: | 4% of the gross salary |
Hours of Work: | 35.0-40.0 hours a week; Overtime applicable at the rate of 1.5 after 44 hours of work per week |
Essential Functions / Major Responsibilities
- Develop and implement child-care programs for the organization to support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, communication, language, literacy and social development of the children
- Provide a quality caring and supportive childcare program and address unique child care needs, meeting all regulatory standards required by federal, provincial and municipal governments.
- Responsible for the constant supervision, safety and well-being of the children
- Plan, carry out, and assess developmental activities that support & promote the physical, mental, emotional and social development of children
- Plan environments and experiences that support intellectual, physical, social and emotional development and learning through play, exploration and inquiry
- Provide a daily balance of active/quiet, indoor/outdoor, and individual/group activities
- Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children
- Observe the behaviour of the children and discuss their abilities, interests & needs with their parents and other staff members
- Assist children in expressing themselves by listening and responding with questions & comments that extend dialogues
- Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits
Specific Job Requirements
- Completion of a college program in early childhood education required
- Membership and Licensing by a provincial or territorial association for early childhood educators (ECE) is required
- First aid and CPR certificate required
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a registered early childhood educator (R.E.C.E.) required
