Pastry Chef

Description

We are looking for a well-experienced Pastry Chef for Cleese Catering located at 11 Carlaw Ave, Toronto, ON M4M 2R6 Canada.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Provide leadership and mentorship to junior kitchen staff, including guidance on pastry preparation, plating techniques, and kitchen best practices.
   

• Implement and oversee a first-in, first-out (FIFO) rotation system to ensure freshness and minimize food spoilage; ensure all pastry ingredients are properly labeled and stored.
   

• Maintain a well-stocked pastry station, particularly during peak service hours, to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
   

• Participate in the recruitment, hiring, and training of new pastry team members, ensuring alignment with kitchen and restaurant standards.
   

• Manage inventory, track product usage, and place orders as needed; monitor food costs and implement strategies to reduce waste and control budget.
   

• Supervise the preparation and presentation of all pastry items to uphold the restaurant’s quality standards and brand consistency.
   

• Ensure that all pastry storage units meet food safety and sanitation regulations and are consistently organized and maintained.
   

• Consult with customers regarding custom orders for catering and special events, offering expert recommendations and solutions.
   

• Assist in the development, documentation, and maintenance of a standardized recipe book for all pastry items to ensure consistency and quality across the team.

Prerequisites:

Education: Some high school or equivalent.

Experience & Skills: 1 year to less than 2 years of experience.

Language: English

Hourly Rate: $ 34.10. to $ 38.00 per Hour for 30 to 40 Hours per week

Starting Date: As soon as possible

Terms of Employment: Fulltime and permanent

Benefits: 4 % Vacation Pay,
