We are looking for well-experienced specialist chefs to work for Sula Indian Restaurant Commercial Drive, 1128 Commercial Drive, Vancouver, BC, V5L 3X2, Canada. However, you may be required to work at various regional locations.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Prepare and present traditional Indian dishes, including curries, tandoori items, biryanis, and regional specialties, ensuring authentic flavours and textures.

  • Skillfully blend and prepare spices, masalas, and other ingredients essential to Indian cuisine, creating balanced flavours in each dish.

  • Use and maintain traditional equipment like tandoors, tawas, and kadais, and train others in their proper use as needed.

  • Create and refine recipes, bringing both traditional and innovative Indian dishes to the menu while preserving authentic flavours.

  • Oversee preparatory tasks such as marination, spice grinding, and base sauce preparation, ensuring fresh ingredients are ready for efficient service.

  • Ensure dishes adhere to recipe specifications for taste, portioning, and presentation, maintaining consistency across each service.

  • Uphold rigorous cleanliness and sanitation practices in the kitchen, paying special attention to raw ingredients and spice handling.

  • Source and maintain stock of essential Indian ingredients like spices, herbs, lentils, and specialty items, ensuring freshness and authenticity.

  • Collaborate with restaurant management to design and update menus, incorporating seasonal items, regional specialties, and new Indian dishes.

  • Monitor ingredient use, managing inventory to minimize waste and maintain cost efficiency without compromising quality.

  • Adhere to food safety regulations, particularly regarding raw spices, ingredients, and cross-contamination.

  • Guide and train kitchen staff in Indian cooking techniques, ingredient preparation, and plating standards to ensure consistency and skill development.

  • Stay informed of new trends and innovations in Indian cuisine, incorporating modern techniques and flavours when appropriate.

 

Prerequisites:

 

Education: Secondary school or equivalent. 

Experience & Skills: 2 years to less than 3 years of experience 

Language: English

 

Annual Rate: $54100 to $65000 for 30 to 40 Hours per week

Starting Date: As soon as possible

Terms of Employment: Fulltime and permanent
