Description
We are looking for a Specialist Chef (Italian Cuisine) for Oretta Midtown Inc., located at G120 – 2131 Yonge Street, Toronto, ON M4S 0C5, Canada

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Plan, develop, and execute authentic and innovative Italian dishes, with a focus on regional specialties such as handmade pasta, risotto, wood-fired pizzas, and seasonal Italian entrées, aligned with Oretta’s signature culinary style.

Collaborate with the Executive Chef and culinary team to design new menu items that reflect modern interpretations of traditional Italian cuisine, ensuring consistency in taste, presentation, and quality.

Oversee the preparation and plating of specialty Italian dishes to maintain the high standards expected by Oretta’s clientele.

Source and select high-quality, authentic Italian ingredients, including imported cheeses, cured meats, oils, and seasonal produce to enhance flavour authenticity and menu integrity.

Train, mentor, and supervise junior kitchen staff in the preparation techniques specific to Italian cuisine, such as pasta making, slow-cooking sauces, and traditional baking methods.

Monitor food preparation and portion sizes to ensure adherence to Oretta’s standards, minimizing waste and ensuring cost-efficiency.

Ensure kitchen operations are conducted in compliance with food safety standards, hygiene regulations, and workplace safety guidelines.

Participate in menu tastings, seasonal updates, and special event planning, contributing ideas that align with the restaurant’s brand and customer expectations.

Maintain inventory of specialty ingredients, assist with ordering, and coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely and consistent product availability.

May perform additional duties as assigned by the Executive Chef or management team in support of kitchen operations.
Prerequisites:
Education: Secondary Certificate or equivalent experience
Experience & Skills: 2 years to less than 3 years of experience.
Language: English
Hourly Rate: $ 34.10 to $ 36.00 per Hour for 30 to 40 Hours per week
Starting Date: As soon as possible
Terms of Employment: Full-time and permanent
Benefits: 4 % Vacation Pay,
