Responsibilities
Tasks
* Prepare walls, ceilings, and other surfaces by cleaning, sanding, and filling holes.
* Remove old paint or wallpaper using scrapers, heat guns, or chemical removers.
* Apply primer to surfaces to help new paint stick and last longer.
* Mix and match paint colours to get the shade requested.
* Choose the right type of paint, varnish, or stain for each surface.
* Cover floors, furniture, and fixtures with drop cloths or tape to protect them.
* Paint walls, ceilings, doors, or outdoor surfaces using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment.
* Create a smooth and even finish without drips or streaks.
* Apply special decorative finishes or textures when needed.
* Repair small cracks or dents before painting.
* Measure areas and estimate the amount of paint and supplies required.
* Maintain and clean brushes, rollers, sprayers, and other tools after each job.
* Dispose of leftover paint and chemicals safely.
* Work with clients or supervisors to confirm colours, finishes, and timelines.
* Follow all safety rules, including proper ladder use and wearing protective gear.
