Key Activities Under the supervision of the Chief Operating Engineer, the Stationary Engineer is responsible for the efficient operation of plant equipment and for operating, monitoring and maintenance of HVAC and related equipment in accordance with the Technical Standards and Safety Act, 2000, Ontario Regulations 219/01.
 
The Stationary Engineer responds to trouble calls and lighting control requests and must take appropriate action to resolve emergency situations during assigned day, evening, night and weekend shifts. This person also prepares required reports, maintains appropriate logs and is responsible for the cleanliness of the work area, equipment and tools. The incumbent may be assigned to perform general duties in other trade areas.
 
Required qualifications:
 Must have a high school diploma;
 Must possess a valid fourth (4th) class operating engineer certificate of qualification;
 Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a similar 4th class position;
 Experience in computerised building automation systems and knowledge of VCI and/or ALC systems is an asset;
 Good organizational skills, initiative and autonomy;
 Ability to follow directions and work with limited supervision;
 Must be friendly, upbeat, and work well with other employees and be able to interact with clients;
 Ability to work under pressure and to react quickly in emergency situations;
 Must be able to stand & exert well paced mobility for up to 12 hours;
 Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill tasks;
 WHMIS training a definite asset and will be required upon hire;
 Capable of working at heights;
 Knowledge of instrumentation preventive maintenance activities/procedures;
 Bilingual in both official languages (English and French), oral and written is an asset;
 A past record of satisfactory attendance and punctuality is a requirement*
