***This posting is ONLY for youth positions as part of the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) Program. Only applicants who meet the following criteria for CSJ, as set out by the Government of Canada (Employment and Social Development Canada), are eligible to be considered. Applicants who do not meet the criteria and who do not submit the requested mandatory application documents listed in the below section “Who can Apply” will NOT be considered.
Under the supervision of the Archivist-Curator, the Archives Assistant, Metadata Entry candidate will review archival material and enter metadata into collection management software. The candidate will also work closely with colleagues to troubleshoot entries and conduct research inquiries. The incumbent will work in collection management tool through a web-based interface.
 
Duties include but are not limited to:
• Entering metadata related to NAC house programs into the collection management tool;
• Reviewing and correcting metadata;
• Conducting research inquiries;
• Assist with other information management and archives activities as required;
• Participating in staff meetings. Students will be expected to provide weekly update on their progress, highlighting challenges encountered so that corrections can be made on time to fix potential issues.
 
Required qualifications:
• Minimum of a high school diploma. Preference is for a university-level course work in History, Music, English, Theatre, or related discipline or college-level course work in Museum Studies;
• Experience with collection management tools an asset;
• Experience with JSTOR Forum and Adobe Pro is a strong asset;
• Excellent attention to detail and Precise communication are required for this role;
• Bilingualism is required; Ability to read French is a strong asset;
• Interest for performing arts is a plus.

**International students are not eligible participants. International students include anyone who is temporarily in Canada for studies and who is not a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada. Youth awaiting a refugee status ruling, as well as those who hold a temporary visitor visa, youth visa or work visa are ineligible. As the objective of the Canada Summer Jobs program is to support youth entering the Canadian labour market, the temporary nature of an international student’s time in Canada does not allow for a long-term connection to the labour market.
