We are searching for a Business Officer to support the financial administration of the department. Reporting to the Executive Director, Marketing & Communications, the successful candidate will be responsible for completing financial and budgetary duties for the Department of Marketing & Communications. Responsibilities of the role include a combination of financial administration, financial analysis, updating and maintaining the budget model, forecasting, reconciliation, and human resources activities in order to support the daily operations. The Business Officer will review and identify efficiencies to improve financial and administrative processes by leveraging technology and other solutions to improve workflow.

Your responsibilities will include:

 

  • Making recommendations on budget allocations involving multiple sources of revenue and/or recoveries
  • Forecasting, planning and monitoring multiple complex budgets
  • Analyzing financial trends and preparing analytical reports and forecasts for management decision making
  • Monitoring department budget to ensure expenditures remain within budgeted allocations
  • Preparing budget variance reports
  • Reconciling accounts
  • Implementing plans and process improvements for administrative workflow
  • Liaising with internal contacts to resolve payroll and/or HRIS processing issues

 

Essential Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree with a specialization in finance, accounting or other related field of study, or acceptable combination of equivalent education and experience.
  • Minimum four years of related financial experience specifically in the areas of monthly statement reconciliation, budget preparation, forecasting, analysis and reporting.
  • Demonstrated experience in preparing complex budgets independently.
  • Proficient in Word, PowerPoint and database applications.
  • Advance Excel skills including use of pivot tables, conditional formulas etc.
  • Working knowledge of financial and human resources information systems, such as SAP (HRIS and FIS).
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Tact, diplomacy, good judgment and detail oriented.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet strict deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
