Butcher Apprentice
CANAAN Meats CO. LTD. dba Canaan Meat Shop in Burnaby, BC is looking for a Butcher Apprentice.
Conditions:
- Job Title: Butcher Apprentice (NOC 63201)
- Working Hours: 30 – 40 hours per week (Full time, Permanent position)
- Wage: $23.00 – $25.00 / hour (depending on skills and experience)
- Vacation: 10 days paid vacation per year or 4% gross salary
- Number of Positions: 1

Requirements:
- Education: Completion of secondary school
- Necessary training will be provided
- Person with previous experience in a similar setting will be given priority, but experience is not a mandatory requirement

Job Duties:
- Cut, trim, and otherwise prepare standard cuts of meat for sale at self-serve counters or according to customers' orders
- Grind meats and slice meats using powered grinders and slicing machines
- Prepare special displays of beef, chicken, and pork
- Shape, lace and tie roasts and other meats and poultry
- Wrap and package prepared meats and poultry
- Manage inventory, keep records of sales and determine amount, product line and freshness of products according to company and customer requirements
- Ensure food storage conditions are adequate
- Weigh meats for sale
- Working in a team or independently with little supervision
