SAL Y PIMIENTA is a restaurant and catering company offering authentic Mexican cuisine in the Niagara Region. SAL Y PIMIENTA offers a variety of Mexican foods and authentic cuisines and is looking to expand in the region.
We are seeking a self-motivated Mexican-Cuisine Chef to plan and direct food preparation and cooking activities and to prepare and cook meals at our catering establishment in the Niagara area. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning food preparation and cooking activities as required in meeting customer demand. This includes preparing authentic Mexican food for wedding occasions, birthdays, and community meetings. The candidate will also participate in various safety and workplace hygiene activities designed to maintain a clean and safe work environment.

Job Duties:
- Prepare and cook complete meals and specialty foods, such as pastries, sauces, soups, salads, vegetables and meat, poultry and fish dishes, and create decorative food displays for special events such as banquets
- Plan activities of cooks and other kitchen workers
- Demonstrate new cooking techniques to cooking staff
- Instruct cooks in preparation, cooking, garnishing and presentation of food
- Create new recipes
- Plan menus and requisition food and kitchen supplies
- Prepare and cook Mexican and Spanish meals.
- Assist in supervising cooks and other kitchen staff
Qualifications:
- Cook's trade certification or equivalent credentials, training and experience are required.
- Must have good time management skills.
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.
