Salary:

$24.10 per hour–The gross salary paid is subject to applicable Federal and Provincial income taxes and other statutory deductions.

Vacation:

4% of the gross salary

Hours of Work:

32-40 Hours a week

Essential Functions / Major Responsibilities

 

  • Develop computer-assisted design (CAD) engineering designs and drawings based on reports from field inspections of soils and asphaltic concrete.
  • Prepare construction specifications, BOMs, and project schedules
  • Conduct inspection and testing of soils, asphaltic concrete and other construction materials.
  • Conduct assessment testing of concrete quality during pouring of new concrete.
  • Conducting field inspections and reporting for construction projects.
  • Writing preliminary technical field reports for field visits and recording observations.
  • Creating borehole logs describing soil characteristics and geotechnical properties.
  • Carrying out routine laboratory testing of various soils parameters.

  • Conduct field measurements for underpinning Jobs.
  • Drafting the field measurements and the proposed alternative for submission to the city of Toronto and getting building permits for the clients.
  • Preparing environmental site assessment drawings for Phase Is and IIs reports.

 

Desired skills and requirements

  • Minimum one-year experience working with an architectural/construction company as a Civil Engineering Technician/Technologist is required.
  • Must have proficiency in the AutoCAD software
  • Certification in a related engineering design software or drafting technology an asset
  • College level diploma in Civil Engineering, drafting techniques or related discipline is required
  • Team oriented individual with demonstrated ability to work unsupervised and self-directed.
