Wages: $37.00 per hour, 30 – 42.5 hours a week

Powerline Plus Ltd. is a privately owned utility contractor with a proud history established in 1990. We focus on three main operations, Electrical, Civil Construction and Engineering & Design. Powerline Plus Ltd. provides quality solutions to public utilities, municipalities and developers, as well as to industrial, national and international manufacturing companies across the GTA.
We are currently looking for a Construction Estimator to join our team based out of Scarborough Ontario. The Construction Estimator analyze costs of and prepare estimates on projects within our Building/Civil Department.
This role involves a high level of multitasking, accuracy and time management and is a great opportunity for someone to excel within a reputable organization.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
· Prepare estimates of probable costs of materials, labour and equipment for construction projects based on contract bids, quotations, schematic drawings and specifications.
· Prepare cost and expenditure statements and forecasts at regular intervals for the duration of a project.
· Advise on tendering procedures, examine and analyze tenders, recommend tender awards and conduct negotiations.
· Establish and maintain tendering process and set up cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures.
· Liaise, consult and communicate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors, and prepare economic feasibility studies on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
· Resolve cost differences by analyzing and collecting crucial information throughout the project.
· As a company representative attending pre-construction meeting with clients.
- Preparing change orders and additional supporting documentation for submission to clients for approval as well as to third part auditors as necessary.
· Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors.
· Manage and coordinate construction projects and prepare construction progress schedules.
· Assist with hiring and supervising the activities of subcontractors and other staff.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:
· Completion of a three-year college program in civil or construction engineering technology (or related field) or several years of experience as a qualified tradesperson in a construction trade, are required.
· Ability to gather, collect, assess and report critical information
· Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office
