Job Summary: 

Early Childhood Educator Assistants work as a team to provide a caring, safe and nurturing environment and age-appropriate program for children 1-5 years of age. Leap Forward Childcare supports a “learn through play” philosophy and provides a variety of programming to meet the individual needs of each child. 

Job Description

• Bathe, diaper and feed infants and toddlers
• Develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children
• Storytelling
• Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs and taking children to local points of interest
• Support early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children
• Assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records
• Engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs and preparing crafts
• Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits
• Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods
• Submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors
• Assess the abilities, interests and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members
• Attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children
• Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children

Must Have 

·       Have at least 7 months to 1 year experience working with children of various age group.

·       Must be able to speak and write English fluently. French language is also an asset. (But not a must)

·       Clear vulnerability sector check

·       Good organization skills  self- control, tact, and sound judgement

• Current First Aid and CPR training – Level C
• Updated required immunizations including a 2-step TB test.

 

Hours

Must be able to work rotational hourly shifts Mondays – Fridays between 6:15am-7:00pm

40 hours per week.

 

Salary

$20/hr CAD
