Main duties
• Develop and implement infant/toddler care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of infant/toddler
• Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, taking infant/toddler to local points of interest and providing opportunities to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music and physical activity
• Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of infant/toddler.
• Assess the abilities, interests and needs of infant/toddler and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members
• Observe infant/toddler for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians, or supervisor
• Guide and assist infant/toddler in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits
• Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with infant/toddler
• properly lift infants into and out of a crib, Prepare formulas and change diapers for infants toddler
• Supervise and co-ordinate activities of early childhood educator assistants.
Employment requirements
• Infant/todder Educator certificate is required
• Previous experience in Child-care would be an asset
• Child Care First Aid Certificate is required.
• Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs. in connection with the handling of children for the facilitation of programs, child safety, and potential emergency situations.
