Long & McQuade (o.a. Yorkville Sound) was formed in 1956 and is Canada’s largest chain of musical instrument retailers, with over 100 locations from British Columbia to Newfoundland.
 

Long & McQuade offers a wide variety and range of musical instruments and professional audio products as well as musical lessons across the country. Yorkville Sound designs and manufactures electronic musical instrument equipment and is also a distributor for multiple  product lines.

Yorkville Sound, in the Pickering Ontario location, is seeking a self-motivated Electronics Technologist with experience in the industry (or related industry) to provide technical support and services in the design, development, testing, production and operation of musical instrument equipment.

This would be an excellent opportunity for someone with experience to establish their career with a reputable company. 

Job Duties:

  • Design, develop, document, and test audio power amplifiers and audio processing equipment;
  • Test and document performance of stage LED lighting equipment;
  • Build, modify and test of prototypes of the above equipment;
  • Perform root cause analysis of production issues related to manufacturing of above equipment and subsequently assist in determining a corrective action, then ensuring the corrective action is successful;
  • In the performance of the above, set up and operate specialized and standard test equipment to diagnose, test and analyze the performance of electrical and electronic components, assemblies and systems
  • Verify that all product change proposals are reasonable and have all the proper information to allow an informed decision; distribute, document, notify and answer questions on approved changes
  • Support verification of alternate parts in existing products, including testing of semiconductors, passives, wiring and transformers in existing products
  • Conduct or supervise the installation, commissioning, and operation of various instruments and equipment;
  • Set up and operate specialized and standard test equipment to diagnose, test and analyze the performance of various equipment and systems

 

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a college program in electrical or electronics engineering technology is preferred but not mandatory;
  • Good time and document management skills;
  • Work well in a fast-paced environment;
  • Excellent communicator with a focus in workplace safety;
  • A willingness for hands-on work in product support and development
  • An ability to collaborate and bring new ideas to life
  • Strong time management and an attention to details
  • A self-starter able to drive tasks to completion.
