COVID-19 pandemic

The National Arts Centre (NAC) is Canada’s bilingual, multi-disciplinary home for the performing arts. The NAC presents, creates, produces, and co-produces performing arts programming in various streams—the NAC Orchestra, Dance, English Theatre, French Theatre, Indigenous Theatre, and Popular Music and Variety. The Centre also invests and nurtures in our next generation of audiences and artists from across Canada. Our vision is to lead and support the renewal of the Canadian performing arts sector over the next three years, as detailed in The Next Act, the NAC’s strategic plan for 2020-2023. Through collaboration and investment in creation, production, co-production, and dissemination, along with a heightened focus on community engagement, learning, and innovation, the NAC will shape a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive future for the performing arts in Canada.
 
Key activities:
The Marketing & Communications Officer, Summer Programming and Special Projects is primarily responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the marketing and communications strategy for the NAC’s 2022 summer programming. As a member of the summer project team, they will drive awareness and engagement with the planned activities across a wide range of platforms.
In addition, this role will support the Marketing and Communication activities of our Rental and community partners. Additional special projects will be assigned, as required.
 
Position Function
• Develop and implement marketing & communications plans for NAC’s 2022 Summer programming, mindful of integration into the overall NAC initiatives;
• Build relationships and extend engagement with new audiences;
• Work with the Summer programming team on the overall planning and implementation of the plans;
• Support Rental and community partners in the promotion of their events at the NAC.
• Develop marketing and communications plans to increase awareness of, and attendance to, Summer programming events and initiatives;
• Establish critical milestones of Summer programming marketing and communications projects;
• Establish processes, coordinate projects and streamline communications between artistic discipline marketers and other service departments within the NAC;
• Schedule, and manage workload to ensure timely and successful completion of milestones and overall projects;
• Participate in the development of marketing strategies and projects, ensure their executions, develop key performance metrics, monitor and analyse progress, and report on status as appropriate;
• Develop and manage Marketing budget;
• Establish processes for the support of Rental and community partners.
 
Required qualifications:
• Post secondary diploma/degree in Business, Marketing, Communications or related discipline and a minimum three (3) years of relevant experience in a marketing or communications role, or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
• Expertise in marketing and communications campaign strategy development, implementation and analysis;
• Experience in arts and/or entertainment marketing;
• Experience in experiential marketing;
• Superior knowledge of and experience in digital marketing, including social media and digital solutions
• Superior communications skills, particularly, but not exclusively in a written capacity (both writing and editing), including ability to create / edit copy for collateral materials, social media posts and web content;
• Experience in managing budgets;
• Strong project management, planning and problem-solving skills;
• Excellent interpersonal skills;
• Ability to thrive in a fast paced, high-volume environment with shifting priorities and multiple stakeholders;
• Demonstrate initiative and sound judgment;
• Fluency in both official languages is required.
