El Gourmet Market is an established specialty market bringing fresh foods and people together in Pickering Ontario and the surrounding areas.  El Gourmet offers specialty foods through its Supermarket, Grill, Butchery, Catering Service, and Bakery all under one roof.

El Gourmet has gained a reputation for being a leader in the foods services industry and continues to grow with additional locations to open throughout the province.

We are seeking a self-motivated Retail Butcher to assist with preparing standard and specialty cuts of meat and poultry, for sale at our supermarket in Pickering.

The candidate will also participate in various safety and workplace hygiene activities designed to maintain a clean and safe work environment.

Job Duties:

• Cut, trim, bone and otherwise prepare custom and/or standard cuts of meat, and poultry, for sale at self-serve counters or according to customers' orders
• Prepare meat for special displays and/or delivery
• Shape, lace and tie roasts and other meats or poultry and may wrap or package fresh or frozen or prepared meats
• Manage inventory, keep records of sales and determine amount, product line and freshness of products according to company and customer requirements
• Adhere to Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and food safety standards
• Ensure food storage conditions are adequate

Qualifications:

• Must have at least 2 years of butchery training or butchery experience.
• Must have good time management skills.
• Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.
