Position Overview

We are looking for a dedicated Surveying Assistant to join our team. Preference will be given to qualified Indigenous applicants in line with our policy of community support and empowerment. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, possess strong communication skills, and have an eagerness to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Lead Surveyor in performing various types of land surveys including but not limited to topographical, boundary, and legal surveys.
  • Help with the setting up and operation of surveying equipment like total stations, GPS, and level instruments.
  • Collect, document, and process field data.
  • Conduct research on land records and previous surveys.
  • Perform basic calculations under the guidance of the Lead Surveyor.
  • Keep equipment and vehicles clean and in good working order.
  • Engage with community members in a respectful and culturally sensitive manner.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; relevant certification or coursework is an asset.
  • Experience in surveying is desirable but not mandatory; on-the-job training will be provided.
  • Basic understanding of mathematics and measurement techniques.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to understand and respect Indigenous cultural practices and values.
