Responsibilities
Tasks
1. Operating commercial trucks to transport goods from one location to another. This involves adhering to traffic laws, maintaining safe driving practices, and following designated routes.
2. Ensure that cargo is properly loaded onto the truck and secured safely to prevent damage during transit.
3. Conduct routine inspections of the truck to ensure that it is in good working condition. This includes checking fluid levels, tire pressure, brakes, lights, and other mechanical components.
4. Reporting any maintenance issues or concerns to the appropriate personnel.
5. Keeping accurate records of your driving activities, including mileage, hours worked, fuel consumption, and delivery schedules.
6. Completing paperwork such as delivery receipts, bills of lading, and logbooks in compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
7. Maintaining communication with dispatchers, warehouse staff, and customers to provide updates on delivery status, address any concerns or issues, and coordinate schedules.
8. Adhering to all relevant transportation regulations and safety standards, including hours-of-service regulations, weight limits, and hazardous materials regulations.
9. Providing excellent customer service by delivering goods on time, handling inquiries or complaints professionally, and representing the company in a positive manner.
10. Always prioritize safety, both for yourself and for others on the road. This includes following defensive driving techniques, maintaining proper vehicle control, and responding appropriately to adverse weather conditions or emergencies.
11. Optimizing routes and schedules to maximize efficiency and minimize fuel consumption and transportation costs.
12. Being flexible and adaptable to changing circumstances, such as traffic delays, route changes, or unexpected obstacles.
13. Demonstrating problem-solving skills and the ability to make quick decisions when faced with challenges.
