Job Description:

Position: International Student Advisor

Employer: VanWest College Ltd.

Working address: 200-1016 Nelson Street, Vancouver, BC V6E 1H8

Employment term: Full-time, Permanent

Hours of work: 30 – 40 hours per week

Wage: $35.10 per hour

Benefit: 10 days of paid vacation, health benefits, 5 personal days

Job Duties:

• Counsel students on academic, career, and personal matters to ensure a positive and fulfilling experience while studying in Canada.

• Help new international students acclimate to VanWest College and Canadian culture by offering guidance on local resources, academic programs, and co-op opportunities.

• Act as a liaison between students, teachers, administrators, and external community partners to address individual needs and enhance student success.

• Organize workshops, activities, and cultural exchange opportunities to help students gain valuable experiences and foster a sense of belonging.

• Assist students in preparing for work placements by offering resume reviews, interview coaching, and workplace readiness guidance.

• Maintain accurate records, evaluate student satisfaction, and address concerns to ensure a smooth and enjoyable learning journey.

• Coordinate with potential employers to recruit graduating students and support them in transitioning into meaningful co-op or post-study opportunities.

Job Requirements:

Education: Completion of College/CEGEP is required.

Experience: At least one to two years of related experience is required.
