Description

We are looking for a well experienced Sous Chef for Cleese Catering located at 11 Carlaw Ave Toronto, ON M4M 2R6. Canada.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Executive Chef in planning, directing, and executing daily kitchen operations to ensure high-quality food preparation and presentation across events, banquets, and à la carte menus.

  • Supervise and coordinate the work of chefs, cooks, and kitchen staff to maintain consistent culinary standards, food safety, and efficient workflow.

  • Prepare and cook complete meals and specialty dishes, including gourmet entrées, hors d'oeuvres, sauces, soups, salads, and desserts, ensuring each dish meets company standards and client expectations.

  • Create and test new recipes that reflect seasonal ingredients and modern culinary trends.

  • Contribute to cost-control initiatives through recipe standardization and yield optimization.

  • Collaborate with local farmers and suppliers to feature sustainably sourced and seasonal ingredients.

  • Maintain a culture of culinary innovation by experimenting with recipes and presentation styles to enhance the company’s reputation for customised catering excellence.

  • Lead and inspire kitchen staff through mentorship on modern cooking techniques, plating design, and the use of new kitchen technology.

  • Collaborate with event coordinators and front-of-house teams to ensure seamless service and timely delivery for corporate functions, and special events.

  • Ensure all kitchen operations comply with health, safety, and sanitation standards, including HACCP and local food handling regulations.

  • Support sustainability goals by implementing waste reduction and responsible sourcing practices.

  • Take charge of the kitchen in the Executive Chef’s absence, maintaining quality, efficiency, and team morale.

 

Prerequisites:

Education: Secondary school or equivalent.

Experience: 2 years to 3 years preferably in the Hospitality Industry.

Language: English

 

Hourly Rate: $ 36.00 to $ 40.00 per Hour for 30 to 40 Hours per week

 

Starting Date: As soon as possible

Terms of Employment: Fulltime and permanent

Benefits: 4 % Vacation Pay,
